Polar Awards Local Recipient of National Scholarship

Since 2015, the Everett Kneece Scholarship has been offered in honor of the generous philanthropist Everett Kneece, who had a passion for rural America. This prestigious scholarship provides one exceptional student with a $7,000 award each year. It gives particular preference to students who express an interest in returning to rural America upon completing their education, a goal that Kneece stressed as critical for strengthening rural America.

This is one of the named scholarship opportunities awarded through the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS). The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require partnership with an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company to be eligible.

Emma Almen of Park River Area School was among 50 selected from over 2,000 applicants nationwide to receive this prestigious award. Her stellar application showcased her academic dedication and pride in her rural community.
